Through many births in samsara
I wandered in vain
Seeking the builder of this house of life
Repeated birth is indeed suffering.
O house builder you are seen, you will not build this house again
Your rafters are broken And your ridgepale shattered
My mind has reached the unconditioned
I have attained the destruction of cravings.
These two verses were the first words uttered by Buddha following enlightenment. These verses describe expressions of intense and sublime joy that was felt by Buddha at the moment of enlightenment.
He sees cravings as the cause for births and rebirths. It became clear to Buddha that beings were born according to the quality of their thoughts, words and actions.
Through insight and wisdom ignorance is completely destroyed and desires eradicated.
